about

Eftersom is a musical trio comprised of Jérôme Darmois, Anna Masurel (Ravage Sentimental) and Chris Vella(Modern Romance); 3 kindred creatives who have maintained a fruitful bond despite the disparate locations in which they live. Operating from Lyon, The Atlantic Coast and whichever waters Jérome choses to dock his aquatic abode in - they remained glued by a marrow-deep appreciation for music.

With 'Lie', the trio make their hotly anticipated return toLuLúxpo's Paradise Children with the long-player successor to 'Tourne Tourne' - a forerunning single that was released on the French label in March alongside remixes from Niv Ast, Mufti, Radial Gaze and Ravage Sentimental herself. Lie showcases the groups efflorescence as it blooms beautifully across a cogent collection of
novellas; 13 contrapuntal chapters that recall the defiant energy of 90s Ed Banger, the amorous allure of Gainsbourg and the fractal polyphony of Pink Floyd.

The title track uses broad strokes and flicks to splash colour across a lucent opener. Here, a thread is sewn which is weaved and braided into delicate and delicious pop, irresistible Indie and raw, restive Electro.Lie is punctuated by breakdowns which travel down with an energy that pulls the album forwards.

'Chambre 9' acts as a perfect stop-gap; a drunk-swung interlude with guitars that gallop in a languid fashion as if being pulled along by sharp, flexing synth blobs. Staccato strikes and sizzling feedback signals bubble from the surface that steam rising from a swamp as the stage is set for more snappy grooves and cinematic passages.

'High' channels 80's synth-pop as melodies soar and cascade, steadily forging a tunnel through the mind's eye while Anna's feather-light vocals are draped over the track like lace. The beaming lazers and of 'Sorry Not Sorry' and 'A Future Made Of Sand' are then fired from a warbling, dystopian sound-bed as the album winds down towards it's conclusion.

This is an accomplished artwork - one that reaches back across France's rich electronic music history and continues the tradition of creating electronic patchworks that soundtrack club nights and movie sequences with equal efficacy.
